after her father (Clarence Shannon) passed away in 2002, Linda put together a tribute to this gentle hero and shepherd, her daddy.
Here it is:

"I want to make a site for the memorial of my father. This site will show what
a wonderful person he was and how he loved and adored his creator and family."

A Memorial of Love

dedicated to my father

HE SEES THE FATHER
FACE TO FACE

Beyond the rainbow's farthest end, there lies
A land that's always filled with love and light.
Where shadows never fall and dim the skies;
For in this lovely land, there is no night.

In this celestial place of joy and peace,
There is no time or space, no doubt or fear;
For those who come to it, all troubles cease.
All worldly difficulties disappear.

And though the loss of loved ones or of friends
Brings sorrows and is hard for us to bear.
If we could see beyond the rainbow's end
We know that we could find them waiting there
In that celestial dwelling place above--
The land of peace and joy, of light and love.

Clarence Shannon - my father
The man I knew

by Paul Shannon

What kind of man was he?
The man I knew was…
A man whose convictions were his guiding light
A man of impeccable honor…he would put duty before opportunity

A man whose morals came before his desires…
he was true to himself and his God
A man whose responsibilities came before his needs…
he would do something for you before himself

A man whose determination endlessly fueled his beliefs…
he would lean into the wind and forge ever forward against Impossible odds
A man whose beliefs came before what he could see…his vision
And faith in God was his reality
A man whose incredible vision drove his every move… he would lead you as if he knew the beginning and the end
Quick with discipline and yet a man of unmeasurable gentleness…
he wielded a thundering velvet hand with the eyes of a Shepherd
A man whose love came without a price…
he had open arms for the black sheep and the child of honor
The constant example…he embodied correctness and honor the eyes of others
A father who taught love over hate…he would show you how to love your enemies and yourself
A man who taught discipleship over worldliness…
he would lead you to devotion rather than the perils of sin
A man who put the word of God before the voices of others…
he was not swayed by the angry crowd
A man whose meekness was only over shown by his gentle spirit…
Always humble before God he could summon the presence of the Holy Spirit with a single word.

He was a man whose guidance I will treasure forever…
he was my friend, my mentor, my guiding light, the hands on the clay vessel
That is me…he will forever live on in my heart and soul, as I try
With all that I am to be what he was best at…being my father.

Footprints in the Sand

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with the LORD.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it:
"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me."
The LORD replied:
"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

The following is a site that has wonderful things on it and some beautiful songs. I wanted to have one of them on this site and so I have linked to them.

HE LOOKED BEYOND MY FAULT

Here is another site that I believe will bless you.

IF YOU COULD SEE ME NOW

This song was a favorite of Dad's and I believe that he is singing it and dancing now. He had Diabetis and was constantly falling while here on earth. Now he can walk all over without EVEN ONE fall!!!! Thank you Jesus for making this possible for us by coming to this earth and becoming our sacrifice so that we can become sons and daughters of the King!

Here is a site that I enjoyed. It is a pretty site that talks to grandchildren. Grandpa's Note

I hope to put more on here but this is good for starts. My father was a man of God, he loved the Lord very much and allowed it to shine forth in what he did or when he was around us. May the peace of the Lord fill you while you read this site.

When Grief is Raw

Dedicated to the memory of William A. Phang Music by David Haas/Words by Brian Wren

When grief is raw,
and music goes unheard,
and thought is numb,
we have no polished phreases to recite,
in Christ we come
to hear the old familiar words:
"I am the resurrection. I am the life."

God, give us time
for gratitude and tears,
and make us free
to grieve, remember, honor, and delight.
Let love be strong
to bear regrets and banish fears:
"I am the resurrection. I am the life."

The height and breadth
of all that love prepares
soar out of time,
beyond our speculation and our sight.
The cross remains
to ground the promise that it bears:
"I am the resurrection. I am the life."

All shall be judged
the gratest and the least,
and all be loved,
'till every hurt is healed, all wrong set right.

In bread and wine
we taste the great homecoming feast,
and in the midst of death we are in life.

I'm Free!

Don't grieve for me for now I'm free.
I'm following the path God has for me.
I took God's hand when I heard the call.
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day.
To laugh, to love, to work, or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
I found that peace at the break of day.

If my parting has left a void.
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss. Ah yes, these things I, too, will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much-
Good friends, good times.
A loved one's touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief.
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me.
God wanted me now. He set me free.
