From Denyce Graves, Mezzo-Soprano, and an African-American:
The events of September 11 will forever stand out as a turning point in all our lives. Things not truly important fell away from our thoughts as the urgency to reconnect to our brothers brought a renewed sense of patriotism. The grief and pain we Americans felt draws to our hearts the reasons we must protect the freedoms we as a Nation have earned. Now, as we go forward, we lift our thoughts in appreciation of all those affected by the events of that day and as a tribute to the many heroes created by these suddenly turbulent times. The operatic Mezzo-Soprano Denyce Graves suggests the words of the 23rd Psalm: I will fear no evil for thou art with me ...Ms. Graves adds: May God keep our world in His loving embrace. |
